The Singapore Standard SS 299:2021 specifies the test content of refractory cables, which was revised and updated in 2021 on the basis of SS 299-1:1998 (2013). The test method cites the standard BS 6387:2013 requirements and makes modifications to the test requirements.

Test method of Singapore SS 299 refractory cable:
1. SS 299:2021 Class C: fire resistance test
Test temperature was 950 °C ± 40 °C and 3 hours
2. SS 299:2021 W: fire resistance test under water spray conditions
The test temperature was 650 °C ± 40 °C for 15 minutes, water spray for 15 minutes and a total test duration of 30 minutes
3. SS 299:2021 Class Z: fire resistance test under mechanical impact conditions
The test temperature was 950 °C ± 40 °C, a 15 minute refractory test, a mechanical shock every 30 seconds, simultaneous mechanical shock and flame combustion
Singapore SS 299 refractory cable Test Requirements:
Fire resistant cables must be tested by CWZ type separately, requiring all types of tests with no fuse breaking during the test and no lights going off during the test to be considered fully compliant.
