Fire is a complex phenomenon and no single test will provide a full assessment of the fire hazard under actual fire conditions. In the interpretation of the fire test results, therefore, any uncontrolled variables relating to environmental conditions both with respect to a fire situation and the use of textile floor coverings complying with this standard must be taken into account. To assist in this function, the committee
responsible for the preparation of this standard is also giving consideration to fire propagation of textile floor coverings under impressed radiation conditions. Commercial Literature. In the interests of public safety and consumer protection, reference in commercial literature to the test criteria referred to in this standard must follow the form set out in Clause 3, Fire Propagation Properties of the Use-surface.
