If the surface are of any individual small part is less than 100cm2 in end use configuration, materials used to fabricate such a part should be permitted to be tested in accordance with ASTM E1354 as an alternative to both the ASTM E162 flammability test procedure or the appropriate flammability test procedure otherwise specifies in Table 8.4.1 and test ASTM E662 smoke generation test procedure.
