1.1 Scope. This standard identifies the minimum job performance requirements for public safety telecommunicators.

Public safety and emergency preparedness demand highly trained telecommunicators.
Make sure public safety telecommunicators are fully qualified and equipped for the task. The expanded 2007 edition of NFPA 1061 identifies the minimum job performance requirements for public safety telecommunicators at the levels of
·   Public Safety Telecommunicator Level I
·   Public Safety Telecommunicator Level II
·   Public Safety Telecommunicator Level III -- Specialized Telecommunicator
First-time coverage for Level III Specialized Telecommunicator addresses professionals responsible for responding to the scene of emergency and managing the flow of information from the command center to the communications center. (Approx. 20 pp., 2007)
