BS 6853 Annex B: Determination of weighted summation of toxic fume, R There are two different test methods which can be utilized to determine the toxic fumes produced from materials to be placed on passenger carrying trains in the UK:
BS 6853 Annex B.1 is utilized for Minor Use Materials (Tables 7 and 8 of BS 6853: 1999), Textiles (Table 11 of BS6853: 1999) and Cables (Tables 13 and 14of BS 6853: 1999).
BS 6853 Annex B.2 is utilized for Surface Materials (Tables 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), Seat Trim Materials & Seat Shell Materials (Tables 9 & 10) and Mattresses (Table12).
The gases which are analysed are as follows Carbon monoxide (CO) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Hydrogen Bromide (HBr) Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) Nitrous Oxides (NOx) Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)
